Rio is a city that strikes the senses. Endless views of expansive cityscapes, lush rainforest, the beautiful sea, and so much more surround visitors. One could spend over a week just taking in each breathless view. Just when you wonder how a view could possibly get better, and think that surely this view must be the absolute best, you find yet another gorgeous view.
Here are a few ‘secret’ spots where you can take in views of Rio that will make all of your friends jealous:
Ruinas Park: head to the colonial and shabby chic neighborhood of Santa Teresa to the Parque das Ruinas, home to one of the most awe-inspiring views of Rio. Climb the stairs of the former mansion in the center to several posts that will show you 360-degree views of the city.
Parque do Penhasco Dois Irmãos: just next to Leblon lies a park that is still not well known to both tourists and cariocas. Climb the easy walk to the upper levels where you’ll get postcard views of Leblon and Ipanema and unobstructed views of Christ the Redeemer.
Rocinha: one of the first favelas to go through pacification, this city within a city is home to over 300,000 cariocas. While getting a glimpse of life in the favela is a compelling enough reason to visit, Rocinha is also home to one of the most stunning views in all of Rio. (Tip: it is best to visit Rocinha with an expert guide, as the narrow and confusing alleyways can easily get a visitor lost.)
Of course, these are just a few of the most compelling views in Rio. Do you have a favorite view that you want to share? We’d love to hear from you – send us a message at firstname.lastname@example.org and we might publish yours too!
