Location – Praça General Osório, Ipanema. (Here’s a where to find the Hippie Fair.) Praça General Osório is one city block, bordered by Rua Visconde de Piraja and Rua Prudente de Morais.

Try an acarajé – a traditional Afro-Brazilian recipe from the Brazilian state of Bahia. An acarajé is a croquette fried in dendê (palm) oil and stuffed with vatapá (a spicy paste of shrimp and cashews).
Buy a bikini – pick up a bikini in preparation for your next day at the beach or as a souvenir.
Inspect the leather goods – quality, handmade leather bags and sandals can be found at the Hippie Fair. If quality is a concern, inspect your possible purchase carefully for good craftsmanship and sturdy leather.
Bring home a piece of artwork – there are a handful of talented artists that set up shop at the Hippie Fair — our favorites are Eduardo Matos and Gilberto Oliveira.
