Of course! Real Rio Tours is small tour company dedicated to showcasing our favorite city to our valued guests. You won’t get any cookie-cutter touring experiences with us; all of our tours are small and intimated allowing for personalized and customized experiences.

What is the difference between a ‘private’ and a ‘group’ tour with Real Rio Tours?

It’s quite simple – our private tours of Rio are completely customizable and offer you the flexibility of being able to start your tour when, and where, you want. With a maximum group size of 10, our group tours have a set start time and meeting point, and allow for interaction with fellow travelers.

How do you choose your Real Rio Tour guides?

Each of our Rio de Janeiro tour guides go through a thorough evaluation to ensure that they are experts on our beloved city, and even more importantly, passionate about showcasing their city with our valued guests. Some of our guides are range architects, artists, PhD students, and more!

Are your Real Rio Tour guides fluent in English?

Absolutely! All of our guides are either native or nearly native English speakers.

Do your Real Rio Tour guides speak other languages?

Our guides all speak English and Portuguese. Most also speak a third language! Some of our guides speak French, Italian and German.

What is your group tour size? How many people can I expect to be on my tour?

We like to ensure a small, intimate touring experience with our guides so we allow for a maximum tour group size of 8.

How do I know if the tour itinerary I am interested in is available?

Easy! Simply check our booking calendar. If the tour date you’d like is available, the calendar will show it in green. Please contact us if your date isn’t available and we will work with you to find an open date that works with your travel schedule.

Can I speak with someone regarding my upcoming trip and tour requests?

Does Real Rio Tours work with travel agents?

Absolutely. We love our travel agent partners. We offer our travel agents a generous commission for the tours they book through us. Contact us at to learn more. If you have a booking made through your agency, simply send an email to and let us know the booking details

Does Real Rio work with large groups? If so, can we get a special rate?

We certainly do. Simply contact us at to send us your group information and we’ll work with you to set up customized pricing and itinerary.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require 7 days notice via email, postal mail, or voicemail to cancel a tour. For cancellations before the 7-day mark, we offer a refund minus any transaction fees. For tours cancelled within 7 days, we are unable to offer a refund, but we are happy to work with you to reschedule your tour.

Where are Real Rio Tours’ meeting points for each tour?

All of our meeting points are in easy-to-find locations. As soon as your tour booking is confirmed, you will receive a detailed meeting point email complete with a map and photos of your tour meeting point.

Can we tour Rio at a different time than is offered on your website?

Our group tour times are set, but you can certainly book a private tour and select the time you’d like to tour.

Does Real Rio offer tours in languages other than English?

Our group tours are only offered in English, but our private tours are offered in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and more. Simply contact us to learn more.

Does Real Rio cancel group tours if not enough people have signed up for them?

We don’t cancel tours, even if we only have a small number of guests signed up. In fact, the smaller the group, the better!

What if it rains?

Our Rio tours run as scheduled, rain or shine. We know your time in Rio is limited, and we want to help you make the most of it.
