Join Real Rio Tours as we take you on an exploration of the largest urban rainforest in the world, Tijuca Park. Home to hundreds of species of plants and animals, Tijuca Park serves as a striking reminder of the Atlantic rainforest that used to cover the entire eastern coast of South America.

Your tour begins when your guide meets your group at your preferred location, typically your hotel or apartment. After a quick ride to the park, your guide will take you into Tijuca and show you the best of the verdant rainforest. You’ll start near the entrance with a view of one of the most beautiful waterfalls in all of Latin America.

Then you’ll start to ascend Pico da Tijuca , Rio’s highest peak, to learn about the park’s fragile ecosystem and witness why the locals call the park the “lungs of Rio”. Only a moderately-challenging hike at 1,017 m, the Pico da Tijuca summit, is well worth the trip. At the top you’ll take in one of the most impressive views in all of Rio, enjoying a panorama that includes Guanabara Bay and the legendary Maracanã Stadium.

After taking that in, your Tijuca Park tour will continue through the forest where, if you look closely, you may see exotic plants and animals like the Saguis and  Capuchin monkeys, toucans, hawks, quatis (Brazilian raccoon), and countless exotic plants. Truly designed to please our nature-loving guests, don’t hesitate to book your tour today!

We had a great time exploring Tijuca with our guide, Miguel. The hike was a bit strenuous but nothing we couldn’t handle. The views made the entire tour worth it! Unreal.

What a gorgeous experience this was. Truly unbelievable. The hike was probably a 5 out of 10 in terms of difficulty so it was manageable and worth it. Got some great photos, and saw three or four hilarious monkeys too.

My friends and I booked this tour for the first week in February. Although it was busy in other parts of Rio, the forest was almost deserted. We loved our guide – she knew all the local paths in Tijuca and we got to see some beautiful sites.
