Tour Vidigal, one of Rio’s most compelling favelas. You’ll get a first hand look into the disparity and beauty that make Rio one of the world’s most dynamic cities. On your tour, you’ll visit Vidigal’s neighborhood markets, study it’s exciting colorful graffiti, and take in one of the most iconic views in all of Rio de Janeiro when you visit the Dois Irmãos, or the Two Brothers.
Your Vidigal exploration begins when you meet your local guide. After that, you’ll use public transport to get to Vidigal and begin the visit to Dois Irmãos. After about one hour, you’ll reach the very top and take in one of the most iconic views in all of Rio de Janeiro. You’ll take in sweeping views of Ipanema, Leblon, Corcovado and even see Tijuca, the world’s largest urban rainforest.
Visiting Vidigal gives you insight into Rio’s challenging contrasts. Once a rough and dangerous home to illegal gang activity, Vidigal is now one of the safest favelas in Rio. It was one of the first favelas that went through pacification in 2011. You’ll learn how Vidigal’s ever increasing popularity with visitors has both helped – and hurt – its close-knit community.
Awash in color, Vidigal is full of massive graffiti murals that cover many of its walls. Local and international artists alike have contributed to the unique urban art scene in the favela. You’ll explore the markets in Vidigal, where you’ll get to sample some local culinary delights, and visit with local artisans sharing their crafts with visitors.
Visiting Vidigal is truly unforgettable. We believe in showcasing how dynamic and warm the community is, while sharing our love of the neighborhood with our incredible guests. Visiting Vidigal requires sensitivity and appreciation for the local community. We believe in cultivating a local experience for our guests, and work hard to show you the true Vidigal.
